Gamma/brightness/contrast issues
well seems its STO related. have you already tried to do a clean reinstall of STO? It should give you the option to adjust gamma settings when you start it up again for the 1st time after reinstall - since it doesn't seem to help adjusting gamma settings in game.

It could be that STO isn't screencapturing based on your graphics settings but whatever baseline settings it uses.
What is your gamma setting?
